About the Center

Despite having sufficient amount of water resources, it was found out that water availability is still threatened by some major water resources problems (i.e. drought and flooding and population growth)

Thus, the program will develop new innovative approaches and smart techniques to address low water productivity, recurring water hazards due to extreme climate events, fragmented approach in water management, inefficient and ineffective delivery of water services as well as insufficient water monitoring and planning.

Also, integrated flood, drought, sediment and water resources management approach for river basins and smart cities, in cooperation with leading researchers and universities from the Philippines and other countries, will be introduced.

Program Goals

The Program aims to improve water resources management systems through integrated approach and use of science tools for sustainable development, specifically, it aims to:

Develop a science-based comprehensive water resources assessment and implementation framework for design of projects, planning and policy/decision making and intervention in basin scale;

Develop and mainstream climate resilient-smart flood mitigation and remediation measures using advance science tools for design and demonstration in flood prone communities;

Develop a GIS-based decision support tool in managing urban water infrastructure with storm water intervention;

Develop a low-cost smart water control infrastructure for effective on-farm irrigation water management;

Implementing institutional support mechanisms for sustainable mainstreaming of R&D products to stakeholder
