Philippine Groundwater Society (PGS) conducts online lecture and consultation to ISU SWIM Project Staff

The Philippine Groundwater Society (PGS) delivered an online lecture on hydrogeology last October 5, 2022 which was attended by the faculty and staff from the SWIM Project, DOST-PNRI, IFWARM Project, ISU-Roxas and Graduate School students. Ms. Leonila Bron Sikat, a geologist and one of the officers of the PGS, discussed the basics of geology and how these relate to groundwater assessment.

During the lecture, Ms. Lea also presented some of her recent studies on hydrogeology and explicated the methodologies she used. She also checked the available data acquired by the SWIM Project staff, like well logs, geological maps, and geo-resistivity results. The lecture concluded with a question-and-answer phase and a group discussion on the initial actions to be executed to come up with the best sites for groundwater monitoring wells.

Lastly, the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between ISU SWIM Project 1 and PGS was also discussed since the expertise of the PGS will be of great help in the development of comprehensive water resource assessment in Region II, particularly in groundwater assessment.
