The Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technologies, Research, and Development (PCIEERD), one of the sectoral planning councils under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), partnered with DOST Region 12 and DOST PCAARRD conducted the Water Summit and Blue Economy 2023 on March 28, 2023 at the Grand Summit Hotel in General Santos City.

Different initiatives on water resources management were presented by different agencies including the Isabela State University. The design output of the stormwater harvesting facility by the Smart Water Infrastructure Management (SWIM) Project 3, “Decision Support Tool in Managing Urban Water Infrastructure with Stormwater Intervention: A Case for Cauayan City” was presented by Engr. Mc Paul Y. Baguio, Project Technical Assistant IV of the project. In addition, DOST’s Undersecretary for Regional Operations, Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang, attended the aforementioned summit; likewise, various research and projects under various agencies and universities, such as DENR, UP-Diliman, Ateneo de Manila University, Asian Institute of Management, DOST-PNRI, and AID Inc., participated in the event.

The 2023 SUMMIT & BLUE ECONOMY FORUM aims to provide an updated overview on the current and future initiatives on water resources management tools and technologies to identify the current priorities within Mindanao on water resources management to establish future research and development priorities and foster and collaboration with stockholders and agencies within Mindanao on water resources management.
